December 2008
After the drama of a week plus without a web page, my new webpage is up and running. It was designed by our own webmistress Karen Hawkins (barefoot).

The drama behind the scenes: The web pages were held with godaddy; person 1 said they would host the web page for free. He was hosting my blog and seemed to be together. i sent him my godaddy info, he received info from the guy who held the name registry. The godaddy site bugged me to renew (I was expiring in 09) and would I like widget A, and I should get widget B etc etc, so I canceled the contract with them. Big oops! guy #1 had not set up the new page yet. Someone alerted me that my webpage was down, and that was last Sunday (I think). Karen phoned me, calmed me down and sorted first the old webpage, and then due to some problems she was able to redo the whole thing in 3 days. Hosting was still a problem, but when you have two guys blaming each other I gave up on the first one and took the whole kit and kaboodle to the guy hosting the name. In just hours, he and Karen have talked and got the site up and running,SO, although this is not AD day, I can highly recommend barefoot Karen, for professional, good work, who comes thru in a crisis, and does darn good work.

Thanks, Karen,
Kate Copsey

Hi All,
Karen is AWESOME! And yes, not only did she put together the huge Momwriters.com website, but she continuously
maintains it on a voluntary basis. We wouldn't have the fabulous Momwriters website if it weren't for Karen. And in case you didn't know, Momwriters.com has been named Writer's Digests Top 101 Websites for Writers for FIVE YEARS IN A ROW!
Lemme, tell you, the lady knows her stuff!
You don't hear much from Karen, but she is furiously working behind the scenes not only as our wonderful web mistress, but as a Momwriters Moderator also.

Karen Hawkins designed the Momwriters.com website 3 years ago. She has also maintained and updated literally hundreds of pages since that time, many of them monthly. I am extremely pleased with the professional job Karen has provided, and I highly recommend her if you are looking for a professional web site builder. You can view the Momwriters website at www.Momwriters.com.
Sincerely Yours,

I would like to tell you about Karen Hawkins -- both her talents as a webmistress and designer as well as her dedication to her work.
For the past few years, Karen has been the webmistress of the Momwriters(tm) web site, www.Momwriters.com. During this time, she has done a wonderful job of initially designing, later redesigning and constantly updating the site. She spends countless hours each month putting her talents to work in these ways. As a result of her ceaseless efforts, the Momwriters (tm) web site has been named by Writer's Digest Magazine as one of the "101 Best Web Sites for Writers" for the past three years.
I believe that it is Karen's dedication to her work that drives her to put forth these efforts for the Momwriters (tm) site. As a contributor to the site and a member of the Momwriters (tm) group, I have enjoyed working Karen and respect her dedicated spirit. She is incredibly talented and I believe that she would be an invaluable asset to any web site with which she was to work.
Sincerely,
Lisa Beamer

Karen is very creative and willing to work with site owners, no matter their cyber "savviness." Her design and upgrading of my www.GumboWriter.com site has brought many good comments, and I am pleased with her continued willingness to work with me on ideas, updating, or whatever I need.

Please be advised, Karen Hawkins, has helped design my business web site: Brass and More. I have appreciated the timeliness and efficiency of her work. Karen is very conscientious and quick to respond to my questions and demands.
The web site functions, are not my forte. Karen has worked with trying to help me understand the background work so that we could work hand in hand with making the site more user friendly. She is very quick to get a job done and I find myself always lagging behind. This has been a detriment to her but a benefit of my customers.
I most sincerely recommend her as a candidate for employment.

I am writing to thank you for your outstanding work restructuring and maintaining my website, and for your help in the design. Last August I had registered 8,000 hits. In less than a year, we now have 32,000 hits. This increased hit rate occurred immediately upon your restructuring of the search tags.

I am looking forward to redesigning the site to include some of your creative suggestions and state of the art features.

Thank you for your timely updating, as requested, and thank you for your partnership in growing my business.

Sincerely,
Kayce Cover

My name is Linda Della Donna. You don't know me. Yet! I am a new writer.

Not long ago, I trolled the internet for a webmistress. Big mistake. I didn't know better. Now I do. After a terrible experience and a horrible web site, I didn't know what to do, or who to turn to for help. I was afraid to trust another on-line stranger! That was until I met Karen Hawkins.

I want every one to know that there is some one out here who is a marvelous web mistress, someone who came to my rescue and helped me get my web site up and running.

Karen Hawkins, known as barefoot@offthewallemporium.com , is the lady who did the web site for momwriters.com  and others, but most of all, she is the lady who helped me when I had no place to go, no one to turn to, felt lost, alone, and unwelcome.

Karen is professional, reliable, and patient.

Karen doesn't get angry if I ask, "Please correct the spelling of a word;" she doesn't mind if I say, "Please take that sentence out. Please put this sentence in." Karen doesn't get annoyed if I change my mind. Best of all, Karen has suggestions, and they are good ones!

I want everyone to know how Karen rescued me when I became a victim and didn't know what to do.

Thanks to Karen Hawkins, I am proud of my web site.

Karen prepared everything from scratch, she didn't use canned templates, she created new ones, especially for me, and I know Karen worked hard. There were days when Karen didn't feel well, but it didn't matter. Karen put her best face forward and got the job done. By way of this public e-mail, I take my hat off to Karen Hawkins at barefoot@offthewallemporium.com, and thank her from the bottom of my heart.

"When I set up a website for my online business and hired Karen Hawkins to design and maintain it, I got not only a web designer, but a web designer who cares about her clients. Karen designed exactly the kind of site I imagined for my business and continues to be wonderful to work with when I need updates or changes.
If you are looking for a talented web designer who will not forget about you or your site once the initial work is complete, I would highly recommend Karen Hawkins."

Karen Hawkins and I have worked together for 15 months on my project:  Obadiah Press.  She has done an excellent job on our website.  Our site receives rave reviews from all who visit.
My website started out as a vision -- I knew how I wanted it to look but couldn't implement it myself.  I shared my vision with Karen and she made it a reality.  She took my ideas and my description and brought my website to life! There are few in this world that have such dedication and appreciation for their clients.
Besides being nice to work with, she finishes her projects on time -- often ahead of schedule. Her professionalism and expertise have added an important flavor to Obadiah Press and Obadiah Magazine.
I highly recommend her work and I look forward to working with her for many years to come.

My name is Erin Crowley. I have worked with Karen Hawkins on projects for a 501(3)C organization called The Simian Society of America, Inc.
During the past two years Karen has been Webmaster for their site, as well as now taking over duties as Webmaster for a personal site I created and maintain.
She has an excellent sense of design and creates an online presence that incorporates the medium well. The ideas she herself brings are enthusiastic and profitable, benefiting the sites she creates and/or maintains. Karen is also a very diligent worker, and always very responsive to the needs of her clients. I recommend her services highly.
 Regards,
Erin Crowley

I hired Karen Hawkins to design my website.  This was the first time I worked with someone on a project via the internet. Ms. Hawkins was tremendously responsive and quick to make my requested changes.  She guided me through the design process by offering advice, but never did she impose her own perspective or biases on me. She has the ability to listen to a client (via email) and pull out ideas the create a distinctive site.  Her knowledge of web design and design resources available on the internet is impressive. And, finally she's a pleasure to work with.  She's still helping me with my site.  Although I need to learn to maintain it on my own, I'm hesitant to sever such a pleasant relationship.

I have known Karen Hawkins for almost three years now. I quit my job to follow my dream of being an author and a Web writer. Through an online group I came to know Karen and was so impressed with her skills. When it came time to redo my Web site I knew exactly whom to ask. Within a few days and a few emails between us Karen had completely redone my Web site. I couldn't be more pleased with what she created. As I make my living exclusively from the Web, my Web site is so important to me. I have received numerous "kudos" for my site and I often recommend Karen and her talents to others. Please feel free to visit my Web site and I can tell you with surety that Karen is a talented and gifted Web site designer. Please feel free to contact me personally if you need additional information.
